Learning more about our users

To kick off our design process, the team met to identify the different groups of students to interview. We also created a screener survey to help us look for potential interviewees. Renice and Shivali interviewed ten students — some were heads of their respective organizations, and the rest were people chosen from the screener survey. This way, we could get the perspectives of both the recruiter and the student seeking for an org.

The insights we collected from these interviews were then put into Post-it notes to help us identify common themes, motivations, and pain points to touch on while creating the designs. With the quarantine situation, our team had to make use of Figma’s collaborative features instead of doing real-life post-it sessions.

Approach and Solution

Approach:

1. Understanding User Needs: Conduct user research through surveys, interviews, and analytics to understand the pain points users face when selecting courses and their motivations for learning.

2. Developing a Personality Quiz: Design a personality quiz that helps users identify their learning preferences, interests, and goals. This quiz should be engaging, easy to understand, and provide meaningful insights into suitable courses based on the user's personality traits.

3. Introducing Rewards and Achievements: Implement a rewards system that incentivizes learning and encourages users to achieve their learning goals. This can include badges, points, and levels, that users can earn by completing courses, reaching milestones, or engaging with the platform.

4. Integration with Profile Section: Incorporate the personality test and rewards system into the user's profile section to provide a personalized learning experience. This section should display the user's personality profile, recommended courses, progress, earned rewards, and achievements.

5. Iterative Testing and Improvement: Continuously gather feedback from users to refine the personality test, rewards system, and overall user experience. Iterate on the design based on user insights and behaviour to ensure effectiveness and satisfaction.

Solution:

1. Personality Quiz for Course Selection

   • Design a series of questions that assess various aspects of the user's personality, learning style, interests, and career goals.

   • Based on the user's responses, generate a personalized profile that highlights their strengths, preferences, and recommended courses.

   • Provide explanations for course recommendations to help users understand why certain courses are suitable for them.

2. Rewards and Achievements:

   Create a rewards system that offers tangible incentives for learning, such as:

   • Badges for completing courses, achieving mastery in a subject, or participating in community discussions.

   • Levels that indicate the user's progress and expertise within the platform.

   • Incorporate social elements such as leaderboards or challenges to foster competition and collaboration among users.

3. Profile Section Integration:

   • Develop a user-friendly profile section where users can view their personality profile, recommended courses, progress tracking, and earned rewards.

   • Allow users to customize their profiles with avatars, and bios, and showcase their achievements.

   • Enable social sharing features so users can showcase their progress and achievements to their networks.
